Twitter: @JRTurnerBooks Instagram: @jrturnerbooks Yay the readathon has officially begun!!!! I am so excited to be reading with some many wonderful readers!!! Today is the first day of the Summer Biannual Bibliothon and todays blog challenge comes from @4teenliars over at www.4teenliars.wordpress.com.
1. What are you planning to read for the Summer Biannual Bibliothon? I am not 100% sure yet. I have been in a horrid reading slump this year and picking out books has been a serious struggle. However, I finished Splintered by A.G. Howard this morning and have begun reading Stalking Jack the Ripper. I am kind of just feeling it out as I go along. My main goal for this readathon is to pull myself out of this slump. 2. What is your favorite genre to read in Summer? I would have to say Historical Fiction. I love history and when there is a fun twist or a dash of magic... I just love it XD 3. Where is your favorite place to read in the summer? My bedroom. I am a winter person so when Kansas decides to be really hot and humid, I prefer to be indoors. My room is perfectly chilled so that I can curl up with a blanket and my book and be all set for a wonderful reading day. 4. What is your favorite challenge done in the Summer Biannual Bibliothon? I would have to say the Throwback challenge 5. What fictional character would you hang out with in the summer if you could? Oh my... there are so many! However, right now I think that it would be Morpheus from Splintered. I am kind of in love with him. 6. What are your plans for the summer? To get my business going before classes resume, perform, write songs, watch movies, and read as much as I possibly can. 7. Do you have a summer reading playlist, if not what would be on it? I have writing playlist on Spotify if that counts lol. Ummmm..... -Most Girls: Hailee Steinfeld -Wild Things: Alessia Cara -Scars To Your Beautiful: Alessia Cara -Inner Demons: Julia Brennan - Literally anything by Ed Sheeran ( <3 ) 8. What is your favorite summer movie? Um I guess I would have to say Practical Magic or Prince and Me. However, they are just some of my favs anyway! 9, What book do you read every summer, if not what thing do you do every summer? I don't have a book that I ready every summer, but I love to go swimming so I guess that is something that I do every summer. Also, I do a lot of traveling. 10. What other book tags are you planning to do this summer? I am not really sure. I am very new to this blogging thing so I am just kind of doing tags as I come across them. Alrighty guys that is all of the question! I hope that you guys are all have a wonderful day and that you have an even better week! Happy reading!!! ***If you do this tag please link it below so that I can read it! I love reading about other peoples bookish lives! Monday 24: Book Review http://www.misssassykassie.blogspot.com/ Tuesday 25: The Villain's Synopsis http://www.piratesnpixiedust.wordpress.com/ Wednesday 26: Book You've Rated 3+ Stars http://www.burstingwithbooks.com/ Thursday 27: Character Connections http://www.insidemyminds.com/ Friday 28: 25 Facts About Me http://www.wolflibby0914.wordpress.com/ Saturday 29: Write A Letter To A Character http://www.readingandotherrandomstuff.wordpress.com/ 2016 was a whirl wind of a year and while I wish I can say that I accomplished everything I wanted to this year that isn't true. I was productive in my performing life but my writing and reading life were seriously slacking. So in light of the new year I have really examined my life and what I want to accomplish this year.
1. I want to finish my first novel Descendant. 2. I want to write at least 1k per day. 3. I want to keep a daily writing journal to track my thoughts and feelings about my novel and writing process. I saw this on Susan Dennard's blog and fell in love. I am hoping that by holding myself accountable to my journal I will be more likely to stay on top of my writing game. 4. I want to read at least 12 books this year. While I am sure that I will be reading more, I like to not have the pressure of reading a ton of books while I have so much else going on and that I am striving for. With the goal being 12, I have a month to read each book. 5. I want to make weekly blog posts. One at least each week. I won't know what day the post will go up until classes resume. However, for the next to weeks there will be two posts a week falling on Monday and Friday. *What are your new year resolutions and goals? The year of 2016 is quickly coming to an end and while it has not been all rainbows and daisies I have had some pretty amazing experiences that deserved to be celebrated.
1.Growth in my faith- This year I have seen growth in my relationship with Christ. I have become a part of a really awesome church that has become an extended my family to me. They are super supportive of what I love, my future, and help me greatly in my walk with Christ each and every day. 2. Winter Jam 2016- This was a really great spiritual experience and one of the best concerts I have ever attended and it touched me in ways that I cannot begin to explain. I am so blessed to have been able to have this experience and can’t wait for the next one. 3. Ursula in the Disney Review- This was a big step for me. It was a musical showcasing many songs from our most loved Disney Movies. I received the opportunity to play the wicked sea witch Ursula herself singing Poor Unfortunate Souls. It was the first time I got to really act and sing at the same time and it was a lot of fun. 4. I went on Tour- In May my college choir went on a Caribbean cruise. It was my first time going on a cruise ship and it was so much fun! I love the ocean and I loved being able to look around and see nothing but open seas. We went to Cozumel and Progresso and both equally took my breath away. I also met so many cool people down in Mexico and loved seeing some of the culture there. 5. I completed my first year of college- This one really didn’t sink in until recently. With the craziness of the year this one was really over looked. However, I feel very proud at this accomplishment. 6. I stepped out of my box- This past semester I switched my major to Cosmetology. Though this one blew up in my face and ultimately wasted an entire semester, I did learn a lot about myself. This semester proved that English is my true passion and that writing is honestly what I want to do with my life. It helped me to truly appreciate writing and performing and to make them more of a priority in my life. 7. Writing- This year has been (in my eyes) a pretty great writing year. Though I haven’t totally finished my novel, I am farther in my novel now than I ever have been. I am in love with my world and my characters and I can’t wait to see as it continues to grow and become something that isn’t just in my imagination. 8.The Little Mermaid- I had the wonderful opportunity to play Jetsam (one of Ursula’s eels) in this years Neewollah production. This was a huge deal for me and probably one of the coolest experiences of my life. This is the first role that I have ever received and I got to execute it with two very amazing women. I became really close to these two women who continue to mentor and support me both on and off the stage. I owe them both a lot, especially for helping me to become the actress I am today. (Thank you guys. I love you both) 9. Rock'n Country Christmas- On top of The Little Mermaid, I was also in a Christmas show my uncle produced. This show taught me that not everything is in my control and that even if I am sick I can still put on a good show. 10. Les Miserables- Finally, this November I received the honor of landing the role of Eponine in my colleges production of Les Miserables. I am so excited for this show and honored to have been given this opportunity. Most of us go through the year without stopping to enjoy our accomplishments. We finish a task and move on to the next one. We often find ourselves getting caught up in all of the negatives that happen to us. The bad clouding or completely drowning out all of the good. Watching Christine’s, All The Things 2016 video I realized that I am one these people. In honor of the ending year, I encourage you to do as I have and write down all the things that happened this year that should be celebrated. I think you will surprised to find that even among the darkness you can find some light. |
